Hello,

I can understand your concern for GI symptoms.

1) Blood on surface of stool indicate either anal fissure or piles

2) Both the conditions share common risk factor, constipation.

3) Bleeding from piles occur when size of piles is big and this require surgery to prevent further episodes of bleeding.

4) Whereas anal fissure require medical treatment only that is stool softener, anesthetic medication ointment, analgesic medication for pain.

5) Both this conditions can be differentiated by simple physical examination and appropriate treatment must be started.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you. Have a good day!

Regards,
Dr. Happykumar Kagathara
