Suggest Remedy For Constant Pain In Back And Stabbing Pain In Chest

hello. My husband had a spinal tap done on Thursday afternoon. The first dr. couldn t get into the space to draw spinal fluid out so after his 3rd try with no success he had to have a second dr. come in and do the spinal tap. They had him lay flat after the procedure for 25 minutes then let us go home. They also drew his blood before and after the spinal tap. Today my husband is still very very sore and in pain when he moves. He says the pain in his back is constant aching. Today he has had some pains in his chest that run down his right arm. He says the pain in his chest feels like stabbing pains that radiate all through his chest all the way down into his arm to his elbow. Is this normal after having a spinal tap?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

The chest pain isn't common after spinal tab. He needs an ECG to rule out any cardiac cause followed by a chest X-ray. The pain at the area of LP will decrease in due course.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
