General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello, you mostly must be suffering from osteoarthritis from the details you have given. how old are you? and how long you are having this complaint?
you must consult a local orthopedic doctor and have to take X-ray of both knees and if needed some blood tests to rule out other cause that will results in painful and swollen knees. pain killers are only temporary measure but using them for long term results in various side effects ranging from gastric ulcers to renal failures. Physiotherapy will help to reduce the pain.
