Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been haveing chest pain on and off for the last month. When I take even small breaths in I get stabbing pains in my chest and breast area. I also get dizzy just crossing a room. I use to be able to walk 8 miles in a day and now can't even cross a room without getting tired, short of breath, and dizzy. What could it be and what should I do about it?
Hello Welcome to HCM. Your complaints of chest pain, breathlessness and dizziness on exertion are very typical of angina. This implies that you have blockages in your heart arteries. You should get evaluated for the same. Please do a ecg, 2d echo at the earliest. Both these tests while show whether you have angina or ischemia, the muscles of the heart and valve problems if any. If both the above tests are normal, ai recommend you undego a stress test which requires you to walk on a treadmill while your ECG is continuously being monitored. This will show whether your heart's blood supply suffers during exertion. This should be done on an urgent basis in the next one to two days. Please do the above tests and see a cardiologist. Wishing you good health. Regards.
