My wife has been suffering from burning lips. This was going on for about a year while in Uganda. When we returned to the states for 9 months it disappeared and since we have returned to Uganda it has returned. Her lips constantly have a burning sensation and I can tell when it is really bothering her as her lips get a redness outlining her lips.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems like your wife is suffering from allergic reaction to some unknown allergen and when you migrated from Uganda to States the allergic exposure did not occur and the symptoms of burning lips and reddening has resolved.. You should consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and also advise you to get allergic tests done like patch test, RAST test.Once the allergen is diagnosed preventing exposure can resolve the symptoms as well as the allergist can give her immunotherapy to reduce the severity of symptoms.. As of now you can take anti-allergic medicines like Levocetrizine and apply calamine lotion over the lips.. Cold compresses can also help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
