My 5 year old started Adderall XR generic this morning. Also this morning he had a bowl movement that produced most brown stools but some of the stools were part brown part white. this is the first time and I havent noticed any other strange symptoms. should i be worried?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. No need to worry about change in color of stool unless there is any associated symptoms like pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, loose stools or constipation. Since your 5 year old has been started on Adderall XR at such an early age I am bit worries as you have not mentioned the condition for which such a medicine is given at such an early age. Well, to be on safer side get the stool tested and watch for the foods and beverages that the child is taking. If there is any evidence of intestinal infection a course of an antibiotic may be needed. If the stools remain gray or white further investigations of Ultrasonography and CT scan for the hepato-biliary system may be needed and if anything is found out a proper management can be done. Also watch for worms in stool and get treated accordingly.
