In the last 5+ years I have noticed brown spots becoming more prevalent on right lower leg between my knee and ankle. Some feel like dry patches and some are smoth and don t feel dry and some even have a redish area near the center of the brown spot especially after I shower and wash my lower leg. I put moisturizer and aloe on them. I read that would help and the aloe would help remove them over time. But recently them seem to be getting worse. Any ideas on what this may and what I can put on them to get rid of them?
Hi. As per your case history you are probably suffering from Pigmented purpuric dermatosis. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid long term standing and keep pillows below feet during sleep. 2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on it. 3. Also apply a calcium dobisilate cream like Osil cream on spots. 4. Other treatment options are oral calcium dobisilate, oral vitamin C, mild topical steroid application, taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
