General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I am of the opinion that your condition suggest more of acanthosis, a skin infection commonly encountered by diabetics,
If i were your treating doctor than i would suggest
1) To reduce weight, as this helps in most of the persons.
2) Diabetes itself cause mild immunosuppression (lazy leukocytes) and causes mild delay in healing process.
3) Having a strict diabetic control is a must.
4) Dark spots can be treated with keratolytic agents.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
