Yes, I have what appears to be a boil or abscess on my left cheek area of my buttock, (about the size of a half dollar coin), hardened redden area around it. What can I use to help with the discomfort? Could this be related to my colon or rectum. I have had a boil on the left side of my vagina about one year ago. I soaked in warm Epsom salt water & it start draining pus like substance but this one is not draining @ all & I m soaking in water water (as warm as I can tolerate it). Will this require surgery? Thanks,Maudie Peters Email address: YYYY@YYYY
Hello, Thanks for the query. Probably you have developed furuncle. Furuncle is a bacterial infections. Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests. Please meet a dermatologist and request to do culture and sensitivity test on pus obtained from the lesion for exact diagnosis. Once the exact bacteria is known, specific treatment can be given. Improper use of antibiotic can lead to resistance.
