Suggest Remedy For Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding

I am 52 years old and for the past few months I am having periods that do not stop afer 5-6 days. The doctor had put me on Dicynone 500 mg. three times a day, Primolut-n three times a day and Ponstan twice daily. It worked for the first month as bleeding immediately stopped but after a month the problem still persists. Now the doc has put me on the same medicines minus Primolut. Even after taking for 3 days, the bleeding has not stopped completely. Should I take Primolut -N also ? Bleeding is very less.

Hello,

Abnormal menstrual bleeding in peri or post menopausal women is due to the following:
1) Uterine fibroids
2) Uterine polyps
3) Endometriosis
4) Cervical polyps
5) Adenomyosis
6) Endometrial cancer

You need a thorough clinical evaluation to rule out uterine cancer. Yes, along with Dicynone and Ponstan, you can also take Primolut-N to stop bleeding. Please do consult a gynecologist for further clinical evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
