Suggest Remedy For A Bump On My Uvula

for the past month I have noticed a bump on my uvula. It is only irritating because I can feel it with my tongue when I swallow. It does not hurt. Can u tell me what it may be or what to do to make it go away? By the way, it is a very small bump. Could it be an inflamed salivary gland?

Hello,
Often with a throat infection or viral condition, there can be swelling of the uvula. Sinus infections, mouth breathing or allergies with post nasal drip, other Irritants, and trauma to this location can cause a similar response. You can try to take antiinflammitory medicine such as Tylenol or Advil. Rinse with warm salt water three to four times a day and avoid all irritants including smoking, alcohol, spicy and acidic foods.
If does not improve or worsens see your general doctor or dentist. Diagnostic tests may be recommended if a growth is found or other systemic disorders such as a gastric disturbance or tooth infection. I would not think of a salivary gland disorder in this location.
Thank you for your inquiry.
