Suggest Remedy For ADD And Trouble In Focusing

Hello, I am an 18 year old college student that has trouble focusing, not just in school but everyday life. I haven t said anything to anyone about it, but I believe I may have symptoms of ADD. I haven t consulted my doctor, but what would be the best way to go about this issue? I feel it would really help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

See, ADD or attention deficit disorder mostly occurs in children and about 6-14 years of age. Yes, though uncommon but it can occur in your age. But ADD has to be confirmed with some tests and features. I would suggest you to consult a psychologist or counsellor first. It is very effective in these cases. Also, you can visit a psychiatrist, run some tests and if ADD is confirmed, drug and psychotherapy can be given accordingly.

Hope this was helpful.
Regards
