Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 62 and on glucophage for ten years plus cardace to save kidneys and zyertek. I have to wake in the morning to clear mouth of yellow saliva that avcumulates occcasionally with spots of blood. Each time I go to a dentist he scales my teeth and give antibiotic that stops saliva but not for more than ten dsys. Two weeks ago the dentist cleaned my teeth, gave antibiotic and suggested mouthwash but the problem is back. Can you please suggest something better.
I can understand your concern. The yellow and blood tinged saliva is because of the tartar accumulating in the gums causing Pyorrhea. As the tartar is back, you face the same problem again.
As you have been through scaling repeatedly and the problem is not being solved, there are chances that the tartar is getting cleaned from above the gum surface while that stuck to the root of the tooth under the gum is not being cleaned causing recurrent bouts of pyorrhea.
My advise to you is to visit a periodontist. Periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the management of gum diseases. You may need to go for periodontal surgery in which gums are surgically opened and the area around the roots of the teeth are cleaned.
After the surgical site is healed, you can maintain the health of the gums by use of toothbrush, floss, mouthwash and gum massage.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
