Suggest Remedies For Withdrawal Symptoms Of Effexor XR

Hi, I am titrating off of Effexor XR and experiencing vertigo and feelings of out of it . I have been carpooling with others and looking forward to driving again by myself. I have two more days of the meds and I ll be back on my Zoloft completely again. How long does it take for the vertigo and related symptoms to go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Normally withdrawal from Effexor, in your case, is expected to last a couple of weeks and meanwhile Zoloft is expected to start to give a proper effect.

There is no specific treatment that is advised but trying to avoid risky activities while you feel vertigo (avoid driving and be cautious of falls when standing or walking). you may try promethazine to help with vertigo but kindly be reminded that medications for vertigo may sometimes cause drowsiness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
