Suggest Remedies For Swelling In The Leg While On Valsartan
I am on Valsartan (Diovan gen) and take it in the morning....By 6 p.m. my feet and legs are badly swollen. I also take Coreg and felodipine, flecanide, and Imdur along with Januvia for diabetes 2. I avoid high salt and lie down during the afternoon to help slow down the swelling. I have a pacemaker and had a conus medullaris infarction 10 years ago. The swelling causes the neuropathy in my feet to be more painful...Any solution?~ I prefer a one time consult as I see doctors frequently...I do not get answers

The peripheral edema might be attributable to felodipine rather than valsartan. Felodipine, a calcium channel blocker is associated with such peripheral edema in many patients.
I would suggest lowering/discontinuing felodipine or introducing other calcium channel blockers like amlodipine or adjust the dose of Imdur (isosorbide mononitrate). I would also consider assessing renal function before making a decision.
