Suggest Remedies For Severe Pain Radiating Through Leg After Replacing Both Hips

Yes, I am having horrible lower back pain and right hip pain. This hip is replaced as well as my left hip which has a much more of a difficult problem with many hip revisions and shortness in the leg. Therefore, I walk with a cane and will for life. Too much atrophy of the muscles supporting that hip. So, my right hip does all the work! It is almost like overload supporting my whole body. I need some relief! I am thinking this is my sciatic nerve and not knowing if there is a problem with my right hip or just the pain radiating down my leg? What should I do and how can I get relief? Nothing has helped! Should I go to the ER or my internet. My hip Doctor is in NYC and I am not up for the trip in this pain!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain radiating through leg after replacing both hips . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sciatica , gout , bursitis , herniated disc or broken bone . I would suggest you to give proper rest to your hip joint and leg , apply warm compresses on back and legs , keep your hip joint stabilize and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan, MRI or physical examination . Doctor may give plaster , prescribe orthodox MR along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy or surgery in severe disc damage .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
