Suggest Remedies For Severe Mood Swings During Pregnancy

I am currently 16 weeks 3days pregnant with my rainbow baby. I ve been having an extremely difficult time being happy because I am constantly afraid of something happening to lose this baby just as I have with the last 2 pregnancies. Today, I was sitting down, and felt a weird vibrating or twitching sensation on the right of my belly button. It lasted for about 20 seconds and then came back 2 more times after for about the same amount of time. My anxiety is telling me the worst. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. Mood swings during pregnancy are normal as they are due to hormonal changes, and in your case, having lost two previous pregnancies, the anxiety contributes to these mood changes. However, you need to be aware that anxiety and stress is something you need to avoid during pregnancy, as it translates into harmful effects to the baby and to your own health.
The vibrations or twitching you have been feeling are completely normal and are due to gas passing through the bowels. With the growing uterus pushing up and pressing on the bowels, the passage of gas can be felt more than usual.
Keep up with the doctor appointed regular check ups, eat healthy, avoid being too sedentary and try to have a positive outlook and enjoy every minute of these precious nine months.
Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy and all the best.
