Suggest Remedies For Recurring Anxiety Attacks

I had 2 kids back to back and was diagnosed with postpartum anxiety. I was given 20 mg Flouxentine. My anxiety kicked in worse after a month of giving birth to my daughter. Two months ago I pretty much started slowly not taking my medicine. I was taking Tru vision product so I really didn't experience so many withdrawal symptoms. I might feel little anxious at times and have my days. But I do walk just about everyday. The past week or so I feel like a zap what I call anxiety all over at times. My doctor said it was my body trying to get use not taking medixibe2. I can't explain the feeling. I don't know if they are called brain zaps. I could be wrong.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

I can understand your concern. Anxiety, depressive and sometimes even psychotic symptoms get worse during pregnancy and also in post partum period. You have developed serious anxiety after birth of your kids. In anxiety brain zap like symptoms are also seen. Herbal or supplement products help to reduce symptoms but don't treat anxiety. If your anxiety is persistent and you are getting continuous brain zaps then better to consult a psychiatrist.

Medicines like SSRIs can be used. If you fail to tolerate Fluoxetine then relatively safer and better tolerated drug like Sertraline can be used. Sertraline is safe for anxiety and is also safe in breastfeeding too. The regular use of this drug will reduce your anxiety for sure. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription.

Thanks. Take care
