Suggest Remedies For Rashes All Over The Body

My granddaughter (age 15 months) has a rash on her body, all over with some areas worse than others. Has had a fever for the past several days. She s not eating, drinking a little. Was taken to the ER Thurs evening and they think its HFMD. The rash has gotten much worse since then and she is miserable. Should she go back to the doctor and what if anything can we give her?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history your granddaughter is having hand-foot-mouth disease.
My treatment advice -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching and NSAID like ibuprofen for pain.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
MBBS, DDVL.
