Suggest Remedies For Painful Bruises On Legs And Arms

I have started to bruise a lot. My legs are covered in bruises of different sizes. I have small scratches on my arms that bleed a lot. My legs started cramping often in the afternoon. My fingers have started to get stuck out straight and I have to physically bend them back in place. There was absolutely no mention of a cost for this so never mind! I will go see a doctor and just pay my copay which is less than this cost.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Rest and protect a bruised area.
-Ice will reduce pain and swelling.Apply the ice or cold pack for 10 to 20 minutes, 3 or more times a day.
-alternate between hot and cold treatments.
-Compression, or wrapping the bruised area with an elastic bandage (such as an Ace wrap), will help decrease swelling. Don't wrap it too tight
-Elevate the bruised area on pillows while applying ice and anytime you are sitting or lying down.
-Gently massage or rub the area to relieve pain and encourage blood flow. Do not massage the bruised area if it causes pain.
-If your bruise is causing pain, take a pain medicine, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen.
-Witch hazel may help heal damaged veins.
-Arnica may stimulate healing.
-Do not smoke or use other tobacco products.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
