I HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION TONIGHT FOR MY FATHER HE IS AT THE VA HOSPITAL AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY NEED TO AMPUTATE HIS FOOT UP TO HIS KNEE ITS INFECTED I LOOKED AT ONLY SEE THE ULCER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOT NOTHING IS RED OR BLACK I KNOW ITS A DIFFICULT AREA TO HEAL BUT WHAT SHOULD I ASK THE DOCTOR TONIGHT TO WHAT THEY DID TO COME TO THIS CONCLUSION AND WHAT SHOULD WE DO FOR ANOTHER OPTION

you can ask the doctor not to amputate but to debride the dead tissue and to keep him in observation with antibiotics but if there is a large part which is under the influence of Dead tissue then there is no chance to divide a large amount of the Limb and in that condition they can go for a planned amputation S to make available sufficient amount of skin for better healing
