Suggest Remedies For Feces Discharge Through Vagina

I just had a excision of rectal mass surgery about 10 days ago. I noticed that gas and some light stool passed out through my vagina after a week of the surgery. The stool is leaking all the time. I could feel it. What is wrong ? Will it recover on it own or I need to see a doctor? This is very depressed. Thank you .

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is a condition called “rectovaginal fistula” where the bowel is communicating with the vagina leading to fecal discharge. It is an emergency condition and immediate surgery is required.

An MRI scan is required prior to surgery to assess the extent and severity. Consult a gastro surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
