my husband was eating some almonds tonight and he has one stuck in the back of his throat - he's tried warm water, cold water, an apple he is breathing fine just it's stuck what food can he use to get it to move? I thought peanut butter but I wanted to ask first? Thanks for your help
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain if your husband is breathing and eating fine then there is a possibility that almond is not struck in his throat but it seems that the almond has caused laceration to the lining of throat while passing which has led to inflammation and swelling of the mucosa and due to swelling there is a feeling of something struck in throat.. You need not to do anything to try to remove the struck almond as nothing seems struck in throat.. You can give him a soft and light diet, more of fluids and cool water.. If there is pain anti-inflammatory painkiller Ibuprofen can be taken to reduce inflammation and pain.. If the symptoms improve within a week it is fine otherwise consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
