Suggest Remedies For Accidental Inhalation Of Bathroom Cleaner Fumes

I was exposed for about 10 minutes to fumes when I mixed bleach and harpic to clean my bathroom. I have been taken to the hospital where I was given some treatment and observed for about 5 hours. Xray, blood tests were all fine. My oxygen level which was a little low was attended to. However I found breathing hard all through the night. Is there a permanent damage? What should I do?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of accidental inhalation of bathroom cleaner fumes which occur mainly due to the response of the body to volatile bleach contents, which can be poisonous. It could be due to an allergic or inflammatory reaction.

Need not to worry. These reactions are mainly due to the volatility of contents and for now take some fresh air and drink plenty of water and milk. I would suggest you consult a doctor for proper examination without any delay and rule out a condition like poisoning. The doctor may prescribe an antiemetic drug to exhale contents. The doctor may prescribe an antihistamine, steroid injection, along with analgesic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
