Suggest Possible Treatment For Knee Injury

Hi, I m 37 and I suffered a nasty knee injury just over a year ago playing touch footy. I had the typical symptons of trauma to the knee but I didn t see a GP or surgeon (I was denial that it was serious) so I took a few months off, and then started playing my touch footy again. A year on and all seems fine; I play my sports, go jogging, lift leg weights, etc without any problems, it s as if I never sustained an injury.. the only indication that there is a problem is sometimes I crowch down and my knee locks. I m thinking, this can t be good, so saw a surgeon who s says the meniscus is torn and I should get a knee arthroscopy. I m in 2 minds whether to do so or not as my knee has been fine. Is it in my best interest to get it done now or leave it till it starts to bother me?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Meniscus tears are not to be taken lightly as for now they might not be problematic but later down the years they will affect the surrounding cartilage of the knee and will be drastic.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sukhmin Singh, Orthopedic Surgeon
