Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have these red tiny pen dot like things in clusters on the tops of my feet. They don t itch. Yet they come for a couple of days then go away for awhile the occasionally they come back. Are they contagious and how do I get rid of them and prevent them from coming back. They don t itch. What I did notice is my feet did itch a couple of days ago before I saw these things. They don t itch now. They sometimes spread on the top of my feet. Sometimes they are just a few on the feet. I do workout so my feet sweat a bit. Not a lot just sometimes they sweat. They look awful. I do massGe people yet I believe I started getting these in the past before I started massaging people for a living. Is this contagious?
These red tiny pen dot like lesion are suggestive of Pityriasis rosea, which is a scaly skin rash caused by Herpes virus and sometimes the cause is unknown and it is not contagious.
It has to be confirmed first by visual inspection of the spots,so kindly get yourself examined by a Dermatologist so that he/she may examine you and suggest some blood works and Skin biopsy to rule out other causes with similar symptoms.
Once confirmed you will be treated accordingly with Antiviral medications and Phototherapy if the symptoms worsen.
Follow these lifestyle modifications:
1) Use lukewarm water when you shower or bathe, because it is less irritating. 2) If you have itching, use calamine lotion. 3) Stick to your treatment plan and go for regular follow up.
