General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are diagnosed with rheumatic arteritis and coccydynia and are presently experiencing pain in the tail bone, fingers and joints. You are suggested to avoid sitting for prolonged periods to avoid pain in the tail bone. Take warm baths to relax muscles and ease discomfort. Applying hot or cold packs to your lower back. Wear loose fitting clothes. Massage therapy and stretch exercises are equally effective.

Your treating doctor may give you steroids and numbing medications to block the nerve supply to the area (Coccygeal nerve block). If there is no response to the treatment and you continue to experience discomfort, your treating doctor may recommend partial or complete coccygectomy. You can take NSAIDS, naproxen, one SOS when needed to relieve pain. Include anti inflammatory food in your regular diet to relieve pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
