Suggest Opinion Of Taking Leuprorelin Acetate (prostap Sr)

I ovulated on 14th February and had unprotected sex, so I could potentially get pregnant. How safe would it be to take a 3.75mg injection of leuprorelin acetate (Prostap SR) on the 22nd of February ? If I take the injection and a pregnancy test shows I m pregnant after taking the injection, can any negative effects of the Prostap injection be compensated with other drugs?

Hi,

I suggest you to take a pregnancy test and rule out pregnancy before taking the drug. Leuprolein acetate is better avoided in case of a positive test since it can have harmful effects on the pregnancy.

Hence the drug is usually used only after a negative pregnancy test.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
