Suggest Opinion Of Taking Acne Medicine During Surgery

Hello. I am currently on Doryx for acne and I am getting a surgical procedure done in 2 weeks septorhinoplasty and they have written me perscriptions for: Cephalexin 500mg Phenergan 25mg Vicoden Valium My question, is do I need to stop taking my acne (Doryx) prior to surgery and if so, how soon before? It s an antiobiotic, so I am suppose to finish it. If I stop before the surgery, how soon after surgery can I start them back up. I m sure I will be taking the others for 2 weeks or so after surgery. Thoughts? thanks!

Hello,

You don't need to stop Doryx before surgery. You may use it and continue after surgery as recommended by doctor. Continue even Cephalexin as recommended by doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
