Suggest Non Surgical Treatment For Extra-renal Pelvis

I just was discharged from the hospital for my second episode of severe flank pain in 5 months. The first time, I had hydronephrosis on ultrasound and CT. This time I had hydronephrosis on ultrasound, which resolved. I then had a specialized 3D CT after receiving 2L of fluid. It showed an extra renal pelvis and a kink in my ureter. The nephrologist is sending me to urology for surgical evaluation. Are there any other treatment options other than surgery?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, there's a definite cause for recurrent colics seen on the scans.
Unless the block is cleared, you won't get a relief.
There are 2 ways to approach this.
1. Get a temporary relief, by placing a stent across the block.
2. Get operated (laporoscopic), and get permanent relief.
Now you've a better idea, and hopefully take a wise decision.
Wish you well.
