General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
The reference range of plasma uric acid in men is 3.4-7.2 mg/dL. In women it is 2.4–6.0 mg/dL. Your uric acid has reached the upper limit.
Allopurinol is the drug of choice to decrease plasma uric acid level. Hence the doctor has prescribed it. Hence, you need to continue taking these medications. Dosage can be reduced later on depending on the response during the follow-ups.
Naturally, you can reduce uric acid by limiting consumption of non-vegetarian diet, avoiding alcohol intake and discontinuing used of tomato, legumes, yeast, mushrooms, asparagus and beans among vegetables.
Drink plenty of water and consume citrus fruit juices.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
Wish you good health.
