Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir I am consuming Seizure medicines namely Valoprol CR 500 (2 per day) along with Tegrital CR 300 along with Valprol. During night I consume Eptoin ER 300. My question to you is that I am gaining lots of weight and I do exercise and eat low calory food but I am unable to do so.Please give me quick guidance to reduce or at least control my weight gain.
It is not uncommon to gain weight on these meds since they act on the appetite hormones. Aside from a very low calorie diet (1200 calories) and an exercise program of at least 250 minutes per week containing cardio and resistance exercises, there is a possible supplement that may help kickstart the process.
You may discuss with your doctor the use of EGCG combined with fucoxanthn (an extract from seaweed) on a short term basis. If you would like to know specific brands, please contact me privately at my clinic which you may locate under my profile.
I do think that you can succeed at your weight loss efforts regardless of the meds on the right lifestyle program.
I wish you the best of luck and feel free to visit my clinic or to contact me on my private portal here at https://www.bit.ly/askkathyshattler
