Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear vijaya,
I am Dr.Riyaz. Your weight gain is because of pioglitazone in your gluconorm pg2. It is a known side effect of pioglitazone and when combined with insulin your weight gain is more. Generally i prefer to caution my patients about weight gain before i put them on this tablet. You can check current blood sugars and discuss about withdrawal of pioglitazone. Best will be to compensate with insulin so that weight gain will not be very drastic. please continue walking and diet. Get back for any further queries.
All the best
