General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Based on the lipid profile report you have shared, it states that your total cholesterol, triglycerides and VLDL are on the higher side of normal. LDL is within normal range, while HDL seems to be lower than normal.
In such a case, you need a antilipidemic drug to bring the deranged lipids to normal and maintain it within normal range.
Rosuvastatin, what has been prescribed by your Physician, is used for lowering high cholesterol and triglycerides and it also increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol levels.
Commonly reported side effects with use of rosuvastatin in some of the individuals include myalgia (pain in the muscles) and muscle weakness.
It is appropriate medication for you and you need to take this medication as prescribed on a long term basis. However, the dose may be reduced according to your response during the subsequent follow-ups.
In addition, you can take omega 3 nutritional supplements.
Along with it, you need to restrict your calorie and fat intake in your diet and do moderate exercise regularly, which would help you further to keep healthy and fit.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best and wish you good health.
