Suggest Medicine For Severe Headache

Hi Doctor, My wife is having sever headache from last 6 months. We consulted neurologist and did a brain MRI 4 months back. The scan was normal and she took sibilium for 45 days . She was better after that for sometime. But now from last 45 days she is again has some uncomfort in her headache. We consulted neurologist, he prescribed MDD Xr 50, amiton, flunarine 10mg for 15 days. But she constanly complains 2 pins are moving in her head up and down, something is getting scratched in her head. She is very much disturbed not recovering at all from last 45 days. We are planning to consult neurologist this week again. Why she has suffering from these kind of problems in her head. Does these medicine caused any problem?. Do we need to go one more MRI?. Can you please help us in this regard? Thanks, Shiva

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I personally do not favor the repeat MRI and further radiation exposure. The diagnosis sounds to be relevant on clinical grounds as that of migraine or cluster headache more likely. Kindly discuss the different possibilities on clinical aspects with your treating neurologist before jumping in for next MRI (which may turn out to be normal as per the last report).

Till that time, try to control her headache with:
- Deep breathing exercises
- Meditations
- Pranayam and kapalbhati, anulom vilom
- Regular walking in fresh air, aerobics
- Control of blood pressure, blood sugar and body weight
- Tramadol hydrochloride with acetaminophen twice a day after meals preferably with antacid coverage
- She must maintain her sound sleep of 7 hours

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
