Suggest Medicine For Migraines That Does Not Contain Codeine

I used to take Darvocet N-100 for migraines and now have to just suffer through them since Darvocet is no longer on the market. I cannot take anything with codeine, so most painkillers are not an option (nor is percocet). Is there an RX pain med that does not contain codeine?

Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.There are several classes of anti-migraine drugs of which codeine is not a component like-
1)Tricyclic antidepressants- amitriptyline
2)Beta blockers-propranolol
3)Triptans-Rizatriptan,sumatriptan
4)Calcium channel blockers-flunarizine
5)Anticonvulsants-topiramate,divalproate
6)Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs

Please discuss with your physician so that he can put you on therapy which suits you the best.I hope it helps.
