Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am pace maker implanted, 2types of diebetic, also arithis patient. few days before my pressure was normal. from two days my blood pressure went 156/76. what should precaution should i take?can you give me the advice. iam medicated as following medicine-
1 ) I take Losartan tablet ip 50mg.2)Asprin325mgEc tablet.3) metformin hcl1ooomgtablet.4)Atorvastatintabletip40mg
From the medication you are taking I see that there is only one drug for high blood pressure, Losartan, so there is place both for increasing its dose as well as adding another drug if necessary, many option out there like betablockers (metoprolol, bisoprolol), calcium channel blockers etc. They are all prescription drugs though so must be discussed with your doctor. I don't think you should hurry if there is only the one measurement though, many transitory factors can affect blood pressure, only if those high values are on repeat measurements a change in therapy is warranted. Also keep in mind that blood pressure must be measured after at least 5 minutes of rest and without having taken stimulants like coffee or tea in the preceding 30 minutes.
I hope to have been of help.
