Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve got one day left before I finish a round of amoxicillin. I m 90% sure that the antibiotics have given me a yeast infection. I don t really have the funds to go back to the doctor, but knowing I m on antibiotics and having all the symptoms I d just like to get something OTC. There are a lot of options for this, is there a preferred one or ones that are better than others? I m also not sure which treatment length I should get, there are 1-7 day ones and I don t want to waste money buying a 1 day one if those don t work as well.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Long term course of antibiotic can predispose to fungal infection. Fungal infection presents as rash or ulcer which is quite itchy. It may be possible that you have developed a fungal infection after a course of antibiotics. However, you have not mentioned the site of probable fungal infection and the symptoms associated with it. It is not possible to prescribed anti-fungal without examining the site of lesion. So, I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment of the affected site for diagnosis and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
