Suggest Medication For Tinea Versicolor On Face

I have recently returned from Miami to discover what appears to be tinea versicolor on my face. I am 38 and female. I do not have health insurance. I purchased some otc creams. I do have some Metronidazole 500mg. Will taking those help or hurt my situation.
