Suggest Medication For Swelling And Pain Of Right Leg Due To Injury

71/2 weeks ago, I fell off an unseen small step and hit the cement really hard. My right leg from outside and just below the knee, and down the front of my shin was hit hard. That whole lower part of my leg was extremely swollen and painful. After a week of keeping it up and iced without any improvement, I went to the doctor, then had an a ultra sound (no blood clots) . About a week later, I developed cellulitis on the front of my shin and took a strong antibiotic for 7 days. I had a lot of peeling afterword, but it seemed to work. The huge swollen area to the side of my knee wasn t getting better, so I had a knee area x-ray which showed no fractures. If I keep my leg up through the night, the swelling is better now, but still swells when I m on my feet. The whole area is still hurting to different degrees with combinations of dull, occasionally sharp , and prickly pains, and sometimes a burning/itchy feeling. (These can be by the knee, but are mostly through the shin). There is also a raised area on the middle of my shin. I was wondering if I need to have x-rays on the shin area, or if I just need to hang in there and let it heal. I am a short large woman (5 3 and approximately 290 pounds) I am 58 years old. I am a first grade teacher and work full time. Thank you for your time!

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Welcome to healthcare magic .After going through your query I think You are suffering from cellulitis which is responding to treatment.Treatment of it is rest, antibiotics and analgesics (diclofenac three times a day after meals). It may take a week time to relief. However you can get x ray leg bones (shin area) done to exclude fracture.I think your query answered.Welcome to any follow up query.
