General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The sharp shooting pain may be due to neuralgia which is nerve related pain.

Neuralgia may be due to peripheral neuropathy which refers to abnormal function or structure of the nerves.

There are different possible causes, some of these are : (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)diabetes- it is possible that this is playing a role
(3)trauma to the nerves in the area
(4)infection- such as shingles
(5)liver or kidney disease
(6)ms , stroke

Blood tests for vitamin b12 or folate levels, liver function test, kidney function tests, infections should be done.

There are medications that may help but since you are on other meds, your doctor would need to cross check to make sure no interaction occurs.

I hope this helps
