Suggest Medication For Severe Knee Pain Post A Total Knee Replacement Surgery

I just had a total knee replacement surgery. My surgeon warned me that it was likely that day 4 or 5 would cause worsening symtoms and then I would slowing improve. I believe that I had been doing wonderfully, already having discarded the walker for a cane, etc. Today is day 5 and my pain has gone through the roof. Could you please compare the pain relief given between two medications? I realize one has the ibiprophen. They are Norco 7.5 and Oxycodone 5. Thank you, Carol

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Both the analgesic give a very good pain relief although Norco would be better for you in a postoperative pain management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
