Suggest Medication For Severe Coughing Caused By Tobacco Smoking

Hi Andrew, I smoked a shishah the first time and I am now having a cough. I had mint and double apple flavor mixed in on that shishah. Is this a possible allergy to the flavors or it is just a common reaction to smoking shishah the first time? also, is there any amedicine I could take to stop coughing? Thanks, Lee

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems more to be irritation of throat caused by the heat present in the hookah smoke.
The inflammation caused by irritation is causing bouts of cough..

Allergic reaction to the smoke and flavours used can also be a cause..

Nothing to worry as it will be resolved gradually as the inflammation will subside.
Take anti histamines like Fexofenadine [allegra] or Cetrizine.
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
Do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations.
Avoid hot spicy and hard foods to prevent irritation..
Drink plenty of water as it will soothe the throat and help in reducing inflammation..
Use a humidifier in your room..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
