Suggest Medication For Pain And Discoloration Of The Toe Nails

I was breaking in new shoes a month ago. As a mail man walking ten miles or so, good sturdy leather shoes. My feet hurt I developed two black and blue toenails on big toes both feet and a pain in left heel. That was in August. It is now October my toenails are half black and blue clearing up. My heel is causing me to limp then llightens up then tightens up again after resting. Debating whether to wait this out or see doctor.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. The color change which you are noticing due to injury [subungal hematoma] suggests that the toenail is dying and if left untreated will not regrow so do not wait and see a podiatrist [to evaluate tissue injury/bone fracture]

PS. and remember toe nails take 4 months to regrow and if there is nail injury make sure your tetanus vaccination is updated.

2. take an over the counter pain medication like acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and visit a Specialist immediately and keep the foot above the level of the heart to minimise pain.
