Suggest Medication For Fibromyalgia

MY WIFE HAS SUFFERED FROM FIBROMYALGIA FOR YEARS, A COUPLE MONTHS BACK SHE HAS TO TAKE PREDNISONE FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE. WHILE ON IT SHE WAS FREE FROM PAIN AND HER MIND WAS EXTREMELY CLEAR. IS THERE SOMETHING THAT SHE CAN TAKE THAT PROVIDES SIMILAR RESULTS WITHOUT THE MAJOR SIDE EFFECTS?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The management of fibromyalgia is with the use of pain medications.Different lines of pain medications may be prescribed depending on the intensity of the pain. These drugs include: normal pain medications like ibuprofen, tramadol or anti-depressant and anti-seizure drugs in severe cases.Steroids may at times be used during acute attacks but long term use is not encouraged given side effects.I will suggest you see your Doctor to try various lines of pain medications especially during crisis and do not take steroids without a medical prescription and when prescribed, do not take for more than the prescribed period. The following home measures may also help her to feel better:
-Reduce stress
-Get enough sleep
-Exercise regularly
-Maintain a healthy life style/healthy foods and limit caffeine intake.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
