Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hopefully!! I am 61 year old woman in good health. I am 5ft 3 160lbs. On Friday I started chilling and running a fever. Saturday was the same, and I slept pretty much all day. Sunday started the diaherrea. I took immodium, but that seemed to upset my stomach and did not help. I am not able to eat more than a couple crackers a day and I have to force them down. I take a couple ibprophen for headache also. Is there anything else I could take? Will this eventually run its course? I am like most people with a very high deductible insurance so I prefer not going to a Dr. Thanks so much for your help
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of being 61 and in good health. The problem started with chilling, fever, diarrhea, not helped by immodium. This indicates that there is intestinal infection. You can very well visit a health center to get a stool tests and a course of an antibiotic and probiotic. You will be fine and there will not be a great deductions from the Insurance. Take plenty of oral fluid to avoid dehydration. Take electral power/ solution to have no electrolyte imbalance.
