I HAVE USED CHLORADIAZEDIDE IN THE PAST FOR EXTREME NERVOUSNESS AND PANIC ATTACKS. THE VA HAS ALWAYS GIVEN ME MEDICINE UNTILI CAME TO MOUNTAIN TOP, TN. I LIVE IN BOONE, NC RIGHT NOW. THE DOCTORS HERE SAY THAT ONLY ALCOHOLICS ARE GIVEN THIS, WHICH I HEARD 30 YEARS AGO AND I STILL WAS PRESCRIBED IT. WHAT MEDICINE IS AS GOOD THAT I CAN ASK MY DOCTOR FOR?

Hi,

Though Chlordiazepoxide may be used to treat the symptoms of anxiety and agitation due to withdrawal from alcohol, but it may also be used to treat general anxiety symptoms as well as panic disorder. If you are not able to get Chlordiazepoxide, then you may take Alprazolam for treatment of your symptoms of nervousness and panic attacks under guidance of your doctor. Both these drugs chlordiazepoxide and alprazolam belong to the same group of benzodiazepine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
