Suggest Medication For Cough And Sore Throat With Yellow/white Deposits

hi. i have had a head cold for the past week. Lots of drainage. My throat is very sore now and a very low grade cough. I was worried because i wasn t coughing enough. Seems to be clearing but, my tongue is very sore and it seems that it is bumpy and red in the back. I cleaned it as much as i could but there is still white/yellow film that covers the back part. never had this before. what am i dealing with? 44 yrs, 5 6 and 225lbs

Hi,

Noted the history about having had head cold, mild cough but worried about the sore throat and thre is redness with bumps at the back of tongue. As per the history you have provided there seems to be enlargement of the lingual tonsils that appear as bumps at the back of tongue with other changes. Do povidone iodine gargles. Symptomatic treatment for the throat problem.

Your Doctor may prescribe you antibiotic if there is any evidence of infection through inspection, endoscopy and tests of throat swab and blood tests. Oral anti-fungal applications may be needed. Also, get checked for diabetes. Take plenty of water orally to maintain hydration and for cleaning of throat and tongue, it helps a lot.
