Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to Mexico a few weeks ago--went snorkeling. the next day, I had dark brown spots on my hand -- top of my left hand and two small red spots underneath my right arm. I have put cortisone cream on them and after 3 weeks - the spots are still there. Are you able to advise?
Understanding your concern .As per your query you have brown spots on the arm. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like hematoma after injury , folliculitis , sun burn or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I would suggest you to keep your arm clean and dry , do not apply any cosmetic product , protect it from direct sunlight and apply over the counter anti inflammatory cream . Consult dermatologist if the condition doesn't get well . Doctor will check the tenderness and consistency of the spot . Doctor may prescribe antihistamine , antibiotics , corticosteroid cream . Doctor may also prescribe kojic acid cream for hyper pigmentation .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
