Suggest Generic OTC Drug For Sleeplessness

My mother is dealing with heart disease as well as severe back arthritus, spinal issues and low kidney function. She is currently on a slew of medications, for heart disease, pain management, cholesterol, BP, etc., etc. Her insurance no longer covers her zolpiden sleep aid. Is there a generic over the counter sleep med I can get for her. I manage all her prescriptions on a weekly basis. She is on 5mg. of Oxoycodone 3x a day and it doesn t touch anything. Any assistance is appreciated.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are over the counter sleep aids that may help such as zzzquil, unisom, sominex (contains an antihistamine) or melatonin or herbal products such as chamomille tea or valerian.

In addition ,she may want to check her sleep hygiene. This refers to different areas of the sleep practice that may help improve sleep.

The information is widely available

I hope this helps
